Dermal Filler treatments

One of the most popular treatments in aesthetics is the use of dermal filler, which is a non-surgical cosmetic procedure. As we age, our skin loses its elasticity, becomes thinner, and lines and wrinkles start to develop. Dermal filler is an effective way of ironing out these lines, and is also a great way to add volume and size to areas in the face such as the lips.

Leading facial aestheticians mostly use dermal fillers that contain Hyaluronic Acid as this is a substance which is naturally found in the human tissue cells and will be re-absorbed back into the body over a period of time. Dermal fillers are a semi-permanent treatment. Re-absorption rates depend on individual anatomy and lifestyle factors, but results usually last 6-12 months before a top-up is required.

Anti-wrinkle treatments

Anti-wrinkle treatments can significantly improve the look of those dreaded fine lines in areas across the face. The most common areas requiring treatment are frown lines, crow’s feet, forehead lines and mouth lines.

Treatment products used are designed to relax the muscles in specific areas of the face, which reduces muscle contraction and lessens the appearance of existing lines. Treatments can also prevent new lines from forming and it is becoming an increasingly popular preventative skin care method.

During your consultation, we will discuss which areas you are concerned about, and these will be marked out for reference. We can then discuss which treatment would be the most suitable for each area of concern.

Pre and Post treatment skin care

Pre-treatment

• Please be aware that some treatments may be a little uncomfortable, however we do our best to limit this by using numbing creams to the treatment areas. We use fine needles for injecting to limit trauma to the site and prevent bruising. We are also trained in using cannulas, which is a less invasive technique. Cannulas are deemed a safer method of injecting due to their blunt edge, which has been proven to limit trauma to the area.

• Please be as informative as you can in your consultation so we can fully understand what treatment outcomes you are wanting. Please remember to be realistic and be patient too! Some treatments may take time to achieve and may require multiple appointments.

• Where possible, please attend your appointment make-up free to reduce the risk of infection. Our clinic has facilities for you to do this should you require.

• Feel free to take anti-inflammatory medications (providing you are medically well enough to do so - confirm with your GP) as this may help to reduce swelling.

• Please avoid alcohol 24 hours before and after treatment (sorry!) as this will help to limit bruising.

• Remember, if you have an event coming up that you are making yourself beautiful for, please leave enough time for your treatments to heal and for swelling or bruising to subside; 1-2 weeks is ideal.

Post-Treatment

• Be prepared for some swelling, tenderness, redness and bruising to the areas that have been treated. This normally subsides within a few days.

• Please avoid touching the areas that have been treated for the next 24 hours.

• Please try to remain upright for at least 4 hours post-treatment to avoid any products from migrating away from where originally injected.

• Please try to avoid wearing make up for at least 12 hours post-treatment.

• Please avoid excessive exercise, and excessive heat such as the sun/sunbeds, saunas and steam rooms for 24 hours post-treatment.

• Remember to keep hydrated, use ice to the area if necessary and take pain relief as and when required.

• Most importantly, do not hesitate to get in touch if you need any advice.

• Please always seek emergency assistance if you become unwell post treatment. Risks and ‘what to do next’ should you become unwell, will be discussed at length in your consultation, and again during your appointment so that you are fully informed on the next steps.

General Terms and Conditions

• Please re-arrange your appointment if you are unwell or have any Covid-19 symptoms.

• If you are due to have, or have had a Covid Vaccination either 2 weeks before or 2 weeks after your appointment with us, please get in touch to rearrange your appointment with us. This is to reduce the small risk of any interaction between products.

• Please, where possible, leave 48 hours notice for re-arranging any appointments.

• All consultations are free, however if you decide to proceed with treatment, you will be required to pay a £20.00 fee to secure your appointment with us. This can be redeemed against the cost of your treatments on the day of your appointment.

• You may be asked to provide ID to confirm you are 18 years old or over - this is a good thing as it means you look young - Sage Facial Aesthetics is clearly slaying at keeping your wrinkles under wraps!

• Please complete and return all relevant documentation sent to you prior to your appointment.

• Be prepared to complete a medical history form and a consent form at your appointment, a copy of which can be emailed to you should you requite. All information is secured securely in our clinic to ensure compliance with Data Protection Laws.

• Please also remember that we take pictures before and after all treatments. This is for insurance purposes. Please just let us know if you do not want us to use these for social media purposes.
